The hardest thing to do in life is to be yourself.

Debasish Mridha
About This Quote

As children, we are told to be ourselves and not someone else. We are encouraged to be different than the other kids in school, especially in terms of clothing and interests. It’s taken for granted that we must do this. As we grow up, though, some of us begin to believe that being ourselves is a burden.

We expect others to make us happy and we don’t want to face the fact that some people aren’t going to like us for who we are. But, the truth is that it is best to be yourself from the start. You can’t change your way of thinking or your personality overnight.

That kind of transformation is slow and painful. But, once you let go of any self-consciousness about who you are and embrace who you are, everything else falls into place.
